The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene lifted the beekeeping ban!

Bee hives now need to be registered with the DOH. Please see our RESOURCES page for more information.

NYC Health Code Article 161 requires persons keeping non-aggressive honeybees (Apis mellifera) to file a notice with
the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene containing the beekeeper’s contact information and location of the hive.

To fill out the form, you will need your block and lot information, which you can find here.

Note: The parcel number will look like this: #-###-##.  The first digit represents the borough, the middle number is the block, and the last number is the lot.
